Many of us will know how annoying and frustrating it is to be delayed at an airport. If you have been delayed for over 3 hours in the last 6 years or your flight has been cancelled you could be entitled to up to £500.00 in compensation per person.

Compensation may be payable to passengers where the flight departed from an EU airport or if an EU airline lands at an EU airport, if the flight is more than 3 hours late.

EU Regulations confirm that compensation should be paid if the delay was within the airline’s control. Delays because of bad weather or situations such as the ash cloud in 2010 would not result in the airline having to pay compensation.

People are often frightened of taking on the airlines but there have been some notable successful cases in which families have received a significant amount of compensation.

Compensation levels are set but, for example, a delayed flight from Faro on the Algarve to a North West airport would result in compensation paid at a level of 400 Euros per passenger for a family of 4 this is in the region of £1,300.00 which is a significant amount of money.
