In May 2016, Director from Forster Dean Solicitors in Widnes, Dan Thompson is leaving the comfort of his own office for 2 weeks to travel to Uganda as part of a mission through the Rock Of Joy Trust. The Trust is an amazing charity which helps to provide education and general well being to children and their families in some of the poorest areas of Uganda. Whilst in Uganda, Dan hopes to build a chicken farm, to enable the community to be self sufficient.

This will be a return visit for Dan, who first visited Uganda in 2014. On his first trip, he was involved with manual tasks such as maintenance, building, painting and interacting with all the school children.  He recalls “It was a very humbling experience. These children have nothing. Literally nothing! They are lucky when they get a meal and they have no possessions”

Dan doesn’t want to turn up empty handed, so he’s set himself a bit of a challenge to justify some fund raising by completing the Welsh 3000s Challenge. This requires him to have been at the top of all 15 of the mountains over 3000ft in Wales within the space of 24 hours, without using any form of transport! As Dan is funding the cost of the walk himself, every penny raised will go directly to the school projects and children of Uganda.

Dan knows from last time, that this will be a tough mission, however he is looking forward to creating a chicken farm and meeting all the children again.

We wish Dan and the rest of the team all the best for this fantastic mission and Good Luck for the Welsh 3000s Challenge!
