Police forces across the country have launched a crackdown on suspected drink drivers over the summer months. There are concerns that factors such as good weather, coupled with events like Euro 2016, will lead to an increase in alcohol consumption. There is also expected to be an increase in the number of motorists found to be over the limit ‘the morning after’.

With England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland all in action (sorry Scotland) interest will be at an all time high.

So whether it’s a case of celebrating victory or (more likely) drowning our sorrows, ensure you are not putting yourself at risk by getting into your vehicle.

A drink drive conviction will result in a driving disqualification of at least 12 months however the length of ban can be as long as 3 years for a first time offender. Alongside this, the court will also impose either a fine, community order or in serious circumstances, a prison sentence.

If you require assistance with a drink drive allegation, please get in touch with us on 0333 323 1830. We are happy to discuss matters at a time convenient to you, even at weekends. Our initial consultation is free of charge.
